Lessons from Together We Grow

Deuteronomy 11:2 & 4:9

I. What we have learned about God

A.     God wants us to grow in faith

“It was your own eyes that saw all these great things the Lord has done.”  Deut. 11:7

B.     God strengthens those who trust in Him

“The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” II Chr.16:9

C.     God blesses faithfulness

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” II Cor. 9:6

 

II. What we have learned about our church

A.     We are growing in our giving

“They gave as much as they were able and even beyond their ability.” II Cor. 8:3

  1. We are a loving church

“God loves a cheerful giver” II Cor. 9:7

  1. We are a united church

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Eph. 4:3  “If any of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.” Matt.18:19

 

III. What we have learned about ourselves

  1. There can be great Joy in giving

“Their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity...They did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s will” II Cor. 8:2, 5

  1. We grow when we step out in faith

“Faith by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead” James 2:17

  1. We can miss God’s blessings if we don’t look for His hand at work in our life.

“Be careful to never forget what you have seen God doing for you.” Deut. 4:9 (LB)
